Mother and daughter duo Shizu Okino and Karen Okino Butzbach combine found stones with ornamental knots used in Japanese ikebana basketry. Each stone is individually selected for shape, color and pattern. Then, each rattan or cane knot is selected to complement the size and shape of the stone. The result is a fanciful, decorative piece that projects a sense of peacefulness and tranquility and invites quiet contemplation.
